Adventure Time Pop Up Card - UPDATED PHOTO by danlayton Adventure Time Pop Up Card - UPDATED PHOTO by danlayton
This is a pop-up card I made to enter Madman's Adventure Time art competition (December 2012).

The front cover features a clock asking "what time is it?" - the answer is "Adventure Time" (represented by the cast inside).

Front row: Ice King is trapped in a cage. Gunter is escaping. Marceline is teasing/maybe helping the Ice King.

Second row: Finn is riding on a giant Jake.

Back row: Princess Bubblegum is riding on Lady Rainicorn with Lumpy Space Princess tagging behind (because she hates being left out).

Here is a video of the card being opened: [link]

- Images drawn using Microsoft Paint.
- Clock created from Microsoft Word 2010.
- Ice King is secured to the cage by his arms, not glue.
5/1/13: Two photos were added, one removed from the collage.

could you give us the images to print and make one too?

Hi! Unfortunately I gave the card to my friend already and to scan the images would mean destroying the card :(
But trust me close up the images are not that good LOL. I suggest finding images online (better if they're vector images) and printing them out. For Lady Rainicorn try to find an image of her similar to the one here and it should work.
Thank you for your interest ^^
If you have troubles please don't hesitate to contact me again :) best of luck!

Thank you!
Unfortunately I gave it to a close friend of mine on her birthday this year :(
Plus, I didn't save the drawings (TBH they're really crap close-up).
I can tell you how to make it:
1. Draw or find images of the characters
2. Cut them out & stick tabs on both ends
3. Fold them (doesn't have to be exactly in the middle but it'd be more stable) & align the fold line on the fold of the card
4. Stick the tabs down
5. For Ice King I used the concept of a popup box (without a lid) & cut rectangles to make it look like a jail
6. Make sure Ice King's arms extend wider than the "jail" so he can be anchored down into the card without glue
7. I glued Gunter on 1 of the jail bars

If you have any questions I'm more than happy to help! :)

How did you make this?!
danlayton Featured By Owner Jan 26, 2013  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
Well this card basically used the V fold mechanism.
I drew the images on MS Paint then printed & cut them out.
Then I folded the images in half & glued on tabs at particular angles so that they would pop up when the card is opened.
Oh right :XD: I drew & cut out a box with tabs that would pop up. I glued Marceline & Gunter to the cage. Ice King is not glued because his arms are enough to anchor him.

Thanks for your interest =)
