Kim Possible's Kimmunicator tutorial (+ patterns)

I would like to warn you my method is cheap but time consuming.

Materials:

• cardboard 
• newspaper
• papier mache paste (Google for zillions of recipes)
• for smooth finishing: gesso, multipurpose filler, sandpaper
• paint - teal, white
• for details: white foam, red card paper, white card paper

Steps: (it's best to view on my tumblr to see progress photos)

1. Draw & cut out the templates/patterns (link above) on cardboard 
2. Tape the front & back templates with masking tape (not the side edges yet)
3. Stuff some paper inside the seal the sides with more masking tape 
4. Papier mache all over – tear the newspaper into small pieces to give a smoother surface; to be safe, use 2-3 layers
5. Once dry, sand to smooth surfaces & add strength– you might need to use filler and/or paperclay (or other methods you can think of)
6. Carve details on the back with a craft knife (you can draw them on after painting instead) 
7. Paint the whole thing 
8. Cut details from white, red and teal paper (I painted with the same paint for the whole thing) card paper – for buttons use white foam (so you can squish it LOL)
9. For the light teal area behind the screen I stuck on a rectangle but you can paint it directly
10. Choose an image you want for the screen (Google Kim Possible Wade) – preferably from photo paper for durability (I had it scaled & printed at a photo print shop); trim the image to fit into the screen area on the front template (the image below was a trial model so it doesn’t follow the instructions)
